Where Is Dead Zero? (The Making Of) - 2012

I thought it would be interesting to show to process of creating the few pages of my contribution to the Where Is Dead Zero? anthology. I treated it like any other project I’m involved in. These are just a few examples of the process. What might be the most helpful is the last one. A rough pass at the pages. A lot changed in the process, including characters, but essentially, it’s the same story. It’s a great map of where I needed to go, kind of like a beat boards pass or thumbnails for storyboarding.

Here’s a little something different!
This is the view outside my window, the glowing white cross from the Forest Lawn cemetery. I wanted to make a warm up doodle and I was sitting here realizing it’s been almost a year since I’ve graduated from CalArts and moved to Glendale. It’s amazing how many good things, good people and good lessons God has brought into my life during that time. As much as I’d like to dwell on all the good things I have, the gospel is the ultimate good thing I have and it is all I need; and I’ve had a constant visual reminder of that floating and gazing down above me in Glendale. Pretty coooooooool ! (I guess a post like this would have been more well suited for Easter, eh? Oh well!)
((Side note—I’ve been thinking about making a separate tumblr dedicated entirely to little thoughts and vignettes like this.))

I love hearing wonderful things like this.
